A Bridge Too Far

I don’t usually editorialise, but have you seen this yet?  http://www.texrenfest.com/heirtothethrone. It’s the Texas Renaissance Festival’s new contest called ‘Heir to the Throne’. Basically, if you name you child ‘Texas Renaissance’ or at least have ‘Texas’ and ‘Renaissance’ in their name you could win tickets for life the festival.

<Sigh>. So it has come to this. Instead of marketing the merits of the festival, we are now reduced to cheap publicity stunts. Not even a very creative one at that.

Oh, and any parent who even considers doing this to their child should be flogged and spayed/neutered.

Of course, I guess I can’t fault the Texas Renaissance Festival; It’s already gotten me to post about it and provide free publicity.
