How to Make Sure the People You Love Show Up to Your Wedding

Out of all of the important components of a wedding, ensuring that the important people actually attend is arguably the most critical part. After all, what is a wedding without your loved ones? Here are a few ways you can make sure that the people you love the most come and experience the most important day of your life.

Send Out Invites

You’re going to want to have a complete list of who you’re going to invite to your wedding. That means knowing your venue and its capacity limitations, as well as having a prioritized list of friends and family. After you know exactly how many people and who you want to invite, begin making the invitations. Have the date, time, and events planned out as soon as possible. That way you can get invitations out nice and early. Make sure that the invitations arrive, as well – you never know when a mailing mishap can seriously gut your attendee list. This is especially a danger when sending invitations to other countries or overseas.

Set the Date Early

The selection of your date will happen before much else, including the writing and sending of your invites. Pick a date carefully – one that works for both you and your future spouse. Make sure it provides enough time to comfortably prepare and inform your families (most often, that’s at least a few months out from the engagement). You should focus on choosing a date that works for you and others can adopt their schedules. Remember the more time you give people to prepare, the easier it is for them to adapt their schedules. With plenty of months in between, guests can prepare time off from work, and make travel plans for a cheaper price without stress.

Double-Check

Don’t be afraid to communicate liberally. Maybe a week after the invitations were due to arrive, reach out to those who you really particularly want at your wedding to ask if they got it. This should especially be the case for those who live in other countries or overseas. Instead of just asking for an RSVP, maybe consider providing an option to communicate that they cannot come – thus, having a clear understanding early on who can or cannot come.

The most you can hope for with a wedding would be to have the ones you love most be there with you. While the rest – the aesthetic, the food, the venue, the music – is all-important, it also doesn’t matter nearly as much in the long run. Plan ahead, send out invites early, and communicate, and you’ll ensure that the most important people spend this day with you.
